Grimes Conservation Farm

Iowa Veterans Home
The beautifully landscaped grounds include memorials for veterans of all wars from the Civil War through Desert Storm. A Vietnam Memorial provides a tribute to the Veterans of this conflict and their families. With hundreds of Redbud trees in bloom, May is an exceptional month to visit. Marshall County Courthouse
The Courthouse is considered one of the most stately courthouses in Iowa. The Marshall County Courthouse was designed by the same architect as the state Capitol Building and was constructed in 1884 to 1886. It has retained its original exterior. Tours can be arranged in advance by calling the County Board of Supervisors' Office. Listed on the National Register of Historical Places. Located at Main Street & Center Street. Marshalltown Veteran's Memorial Coliseum
Constructed in 1929 and dedicated to those who served in all wars. The mural on the wall, created in 1958, is a visual depiction of 100 years of Marshalltown history. Renovated meeting room, kitchen and gymnasium are available for rent. Call 641-754-5715 for more information.

Matthew Edel Blacksmith Shop
Journey into the past to a uniquely preserved "full service" blacksmith shop, operated by German immigrant Matthew Edel from 1883 until 1940. Edel, a skilled blacksmith and inventor, operated the shop until his death. See his tools and wares and hear stories about blacksmithing before tractors and automobiles. Listed on the National Register of Historical Places. Located just ten miles south of Marshalltown. Demonstrations available by appointment. Located at County Road E63. Willard Mansion
Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the LeRoy R. Willard Mansion offers a unique and historic atmosphere. This 1910 mansion, built by LeRoy R. Willard, owner of the Marshall Oil Company, is an elaborate example of the Edwardian Georgian style of architecture. A perfect setting for group tours, wedding rehearsals, dinners, ceremonies, receptions, meetings, holiday parties or other special events.
