Travel to Council Bluffs

As the county seat of Pottawattamie County, and just minutes from the border of Nebraska, Council Bluffs is a set just in between the I-29 and the I-80. Guests of the Best Western hotel in Council Bluffs will enjoy the ease of access into Des Moines - a straight shot east along the I-80 and boom, there it is. Take the kids and explore the Union Pacific Railroad Museum - closed Sundays and Mondays. Another of Council Bluffs historic local flavor is the General Dodge House, once home to Gen. Grenville M. Dodge. Tours are available - kids five and under get in free. A visit to Council Bluffs isn't complete with out a visit to the The Lewis & Clark Monument Park. Don't forget about the Squirrel Cage Jail, which acted as the Pottawattamie County Jail from 1885 until 1969 - wrangle up the kids and head over for a tour.
